How to use

  1. Choose a photo with a person in it (selfie, portrait, ID photo).
  2. Press “Remove background”. The first time, the model is downloaded and the progress bar shows each step.
  3. Pick a background: transparent, a common ID-photo color such as white or blue, or your own color.
  4. Adjust “Edge softness”, compare with the original and press “Download”.

Tips for a clean cut-out

  • Use a sharp, evenly lit photo where the whole person is in focus.
  • A plain background that differs clearly from the hair and clothes works best.
  • Group photos work too, but some background may remain in gaps between people.

Privacy

Files you choose and text you enter are processed in your browser. They are not uploaded to our servers and we do not store them. Some tools download the code or data they need (such as OCR language data) from this site the first time you use them.

FAQ

Which photos does it work on?

Only photos of people: selfies, head-and-shoulders shots, ID photos, group photos. It cannot cut out products, animals or landscapes. The sharper the person and the stronger the contrast with the background, the better the result.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. Everything runs in your browser and the photo never leaves your device.

Why is the first run slower?

The first time, the page downloads the person-segmentation model and its runtime (about 4.5 MB) from this site. Your browser caches them, so later runs start quickly.

Can I change the background for an ID or passport photo?

Yes. Pick white, blue, red, light blue or gray, or any custom color, and save as JPG or PNG. Crop and resize to the official size separately.

The hair edges are not clean

Adjust "Edge softness": lower values give crisper edges, higher values blend more naturally. The model works at a limited resolution, so fine strands of hair, see-through objects and clothes in the same color as the background may be inaccurate.

What size is the output?

The same as the original photo. A transparent background is saved as PNG; a solid background can be saved as JPG or PNG.
